Definition
A full set of physical and fitness tests a player undergoes before a transfer is completed. Pass it, and the deal goes through. Fail it, and a "done deal" can collapse overnight. It's happened to some very expensive players.
Origin
Long-standing football practice. No big transfer is official until the incoming player passes one. Clubs are spending tens of millions, so they want to be sure the body they're buying actually works.
